jimJim is the first lay administrator in the history of St. Paul Elder Services and joined the organization in 1996 after working in long-term care since 1975, first beginning as a nursing assistant and then later as administrator in northeastern Wisconsin facilities.

He is a native of New Holstein, where he grew up with five brothers in a family construction company that was founded by his father. Jim was taught by the Franciscan Sisters at Holy Rosary and finds working with them in this ministry very fulfilling from both a personal and professional perspective.

Jim is married to Barbara and they reside near Stockbridge with their sheepdog, Daphne. They enjoy travel, entertaining family and friends and are blessed to be serving in this wonderful ministry!

kayKay has been with SPES for over 18 years. Prior to that time, she worked at Holy Family Memorial in Manitowoc, her home town. She joined SPES in the late 1980’s to assist in the coordination of human resources when St. Paul Home merged with Riverview Health Center and the staff were merged into one employee group.

Since that time, Kay has managed all human resources functions within the organization including recruitment and hiring of staff as facilities and staff increased. Today, SPES employs over 300 full and part-time associates.

As Corporate Integrity Officer, Kay is responsible for all aspects of quality assurance, corporate, civil rights and HIPPA compliance for the entire organization. She is also responsible to assure that an effective, comprehensive education program is established and available to all associates.

Kay was honored with the Franciscan Ministry Award in 2007. This system award recognizes a senior level employee for loyalty, dedication and commitment to the Ministry, within the organization and beyond.

melanieMel was born in Monroe, WI and was raised in Darlington and Oregon, WI. She has one younger brother. She graduated from UW-LaCrosse with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.

Upon moving to the Fox River Valley, she met and later married her husband, John and today are the proud parents of Jack and Joe, who keeps them both very busy.

She joined the SPES Team in 2000 as an Activity Specialist and became department director in 2001. In this role she is responsible for the overall programming of activities and events for residents, and tenants.

Mel loves to be silly and to make others smile and to this end, she pursued certification as a “therapeutic clown” named “Bubbles” who occasionally visits our Elders. I am also certified by the NCTRC as a C.T.R.S. I enjoy being silly and making others smile.

laurieLaurie joined the St. Paul Elder Services team in July of 2008.  Prior to her joining this team, she worked for another health care company for 14 years as the Admissions and Marketing Director.  She was born and raised in the Stockbridge, WI area and is the youngest of 8 children.

Laurie attended the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Business Administration. 

Laurie, her husband Dave, and their 2 children; Bailey and Sawyer live in Stockbridge.  Laurie, Dave and his brother own the Gobbler’s Knob Supper Club and Bobbers, both located in the Stockbridge area.  In her spare time beyond the businesses, Laurie enjoys reading and browsing book stores, going for long walks and spending time with family; especially watching the changes in her children as they become involved in school, sports and extracurricular activities.

maryMary was born and raised in Appleton. She attended the UW-La Crosse and received a degree in Mathematics and Education. She later attended Kendall College and focused her area of study on accounting.

She began her career in the for-profit sector for a major manufacturing company in the Chicago area. Her career then took her to St. Louis and Iowa and then a return to the Chicago area. Upon her return to the Chicago area, she was employed with a not-for-profit organization that provided residential and vocational services for developmentally disabled adults.

Being away from family for over twenty years resulted in her decision to return to the Appleton area; one she has never regretted. Since returning, she finds herself blessed to be a member of the St Paul Family and is proud to hold the position of CFO for this organization.

lisaLisa joined the SPES Therapy Team in 2004 as a staff physical therapist and was named Director of Therapy Services in April, 2008.

Lisa is a Physical Therapist who received her BS from the University of Iowa, MS and Clinical Doctorate Degrees from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences.  Lisa has extensive clinical experience and a special interest in the treatment of geriatric and neurological patients.  Lisa enjoys teaching not only at the clinical level with students and peers, but also in the educational setting.  Lisa currently holds an Adjunct appointment in the Department of Science at Fox Valley Technical College teaching Anatomy and Physiology.

Lisa is passionate about providing quality care and specialized services not only to the SPES family, but also to members of the community.  Lisa leads her team to coordinate rehabilitation services for the Center of Rehabilitation Unit within St Paul Home, and many specialized services for the community such as Treatment of Lymphedema, Individualized Aquatic Therapy, Vital Stim Program for speech and swallowing, Interactive Metronome,  Stroke Recovery, and Myofascial Release.

Lisa resides in Appleton with her family; husband Trevor, sons Ryan and Jeffrey, and two Newfoundlands Grace and Lilly.

sister-joySister was born and raised in Antigo, Wisconsin. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, the sponsoring Congregation of SPES. Sister began her nursing career after becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Muskingum County Technical Institute in Zanesville, OH. After several years of service in Zanesville and West Point, NE she obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing from Waukesha County Technical Institute and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Silver Lake College.

Sister Joy enjoys the challenge of starting new programs and grant writing. She has been successful in both with starting a Certified Home Care Agency with the help of $150.000 grant, Certified Hospice, paid Parish Nurse Program thru obtaining a $200,000 grant. Since 2001, Sister has developed the Community Outreach Program for SPES and serves on various committees and boards through out the Fox River Valley. She is also responsible for coordinating volunteer activities.

randyRandy started with SPES in 2005 as the Director of Environmental Services and has been in building maintenance since 1998. In his current role, Randy is responsible for all building maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, purchasing, and information technology.

Randy grew up in Oshkosh and has lived in Appleton, Menasha, and Winchester. Growing up Randy enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, boating, camping, running, weight lifting, skydiving, bungee jumping, okay so just about everything was tried at least once. In high school football and track was the sport of choice.

Randy has one son Philip who is married with 3 daughters and one son. Philip is a Staff Sergeant in the Army and has been deployed to Iraq fours times. Randy loves animals and dogs are his favorite. Growing up there was always a pet in his life.

Working with the elderly is so rewarding and Randy enjoys listening to all of their wonderful stories. It is hard to find any other place where people appreciate all of the little things you do so much!

dianaDiana has been the Director of Social Services since joining the St. Paul Team in 1993. She was raised in Berlin, WI and is the youngest of three children. Her mom, Julia remains living in Berlin. Her sister lives in Austin, TX and her brother in Madison, WI.

Diana received her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from UW-Oshkosh in 1991. She married Joel in 1992 and together they have two children, Justin and Stepanie, who keep both parents very busy. In her free time Diana enjoys family time, shopping, reading, playing and participating in sports and watching “reality TV.”

coreyCorey was born and raised in Brillion, WI and a 1996 graduate of UW-Stevens Point with a degree in Dietetics. He moved to Nashville in 1997 to complete a one-year internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center to become a Registered Dietitian and returned to the Fox Cities in 1998. He started at an area assisted living facility but moved into acute care at Theda Clark, serving as the Coordinator of Nutrition Services for over four years. He joined the SPES Team in his current leadership role in the summer of 2003.

He is a Certified Adult Weight Management Trainer and is currently working with an area elementary school to develop a Wellness Program.

Corey resides in Kaukauna with his family; wife Sara and their three children, Maggie, Sophia, and Mason.

sister-dorothySister Dorothy, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, was born in Manitowoc and was raised there with one brother and three sisters. She was educated by Franciscans from grade school through college, and focused on education in college. She received her BA degree from Silver Lake College and her MS from Creighton University. While in education, her intense interest in parish ministry continued to develop and in 1988, she received an MA in Pastoral Studies from Loyola Institute of Ministry Extension, New Orleans, LA. Teaching for ten years, “principaling” for twenty years, and working as a Pastoral Associate in parishes for twelve years preceded her arrival at St. Paul Elder Services in July of 2002 as Director of Mission and Spiritual Care.

Sister Dorothy finds nourishment in nurturing plants and enjoying the beauty of growth, in addition to her too rarely used interest in guitar. Traveling to visit her sisters and their families in the East provides great joy and rejuvenation. At SPES she loves to entertain and often wants to join the Therapeutic Recreation Department. Sharing the MISSION of St. Paul Elder Services through Orientations and Anniversary Days is a great joy!

peggyPeggy is a life-long resident of Kaukauna, the sixth child in a family of 13. She attended UW-Stevens Point after high school, married in 1975 and has four children. She and her husband, Dave owned and operated a 110 acre dairy farm and were awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer Award from Fox Valley Technical College in 1985.

Peggy was active in community service as her children were growing up. She belonged to the Kaukauna Area Jaycees holding the office of President and receiving the Jaycee of the Year in 1983. Peggy also received the Leader of the Year Award for the Buchanan 4-H Club in 1993.

When her youngest child entered kindergarten, she enrolled at FVTC and earned her nursing degree at age 40! Peggy worked at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in the Medical/Oncology Department prior to coming to St. Paul Nursing Home in 1996.

Peggy left for a brief time in 1998 to do consulting with a pharmacy software company that worked with long-term care providers but returned to St Paul in late 1999. She missed the interaction with the Elders and is pleased to head the wonderful team of care givers within the Community Services Division of SPES.
